Changing Your Sight

Writer's picture: Sara WhittenSara Whitten

God has been speaking again and again about WISDOM and DISCERNMENT. This is a season of greater discernment because things are not what they seem! In church in the middle of worship when the presence of God was felt the most strongly, something physically hits me. I look all around, thinking a friend is tapping me. Finally, my gaze falls to the floor. Sitting there is a pair of eyeglasses that literally fell from the balcony. "New vision", I felt the Spirit whisper. God is CHANGING our vision to take us to the next level. For the first time in four years of living in our house, when I checked the mail, instead of letters, a little living message awaited me. A gecko stared back as I opened the box. Interestingly, geckos have very special eyes. They NEVER blink. They have incredible night vision. They also can see at TWO DEPTHS at once. "Don't blink!", say the Lord, "Because what I am doing is coming on so rapidly. One thing on the heels of another!" “Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭65:24‬ "Even during spiritual "nights" when less can be seen, I am giving you eyes to see through the darkness and to be able to discern when to act and when to be still, my Spirit itself will give you words. For this is a time when, just as in dim lighting, things are not always what they seem. What I am doing you may not EXPECT. There are mountains in front of you, and they WILL be moved, though the way I work it all out may be surprising." “For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭64:3‬ ‭ Though it comes as a surprise, it will be a GOOD surprise! Often times when I hear things will not go as expected, I am tempted by fear or to assume it will be less good than my imaginings. Listen when I say that we CANNOT out-dream God's goodness. Be excited about the surprises and changes. They WILL be good. It will bring DELIGHT. Sow into what God is doing by rejoicing NOW. Thanking God in advance, even in the dimly lit place, for what God is doing. "But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭65:18‬ ‭ Receive your new vision. Be able to see double the depth...Seeing at the perspective of BOTH earth and heaven.
