“My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.” Psalm 51:17 In digger deeper into the word “break”, one of the financial definitions caught my eye. “To use in a transaction and receive change for”. When you “break” a large bill, it’s given back in the form of CHANGE, and you receive many smaller bills, losing nothing. We no longer need to “pay” anything in sacrifice to restore closeness in relationship with God. If love is our currency, God desires us to give Him our hearts to be “broken”... NOT meaning to be hurt or have our hope destroyed... but meaning that we can give Him our whole hearts, lose nothing, and receive inner CHANGE in return. Just as money is easier spent when big bills are broken, love is more easily given from hearts that have been changed through the Father’s hands. THIS is how we get closer to God. Offer Him our everything, place our very HEART in His hands, and trust that we will lose nothing and be changed!
