Closing Time

Writer's picture: Sara WhittenSara Whitten

Just as during the closing time of buying a property, this is a spiritual closing time. A time of closing off things of the past that will hinder or keep you hung up in old ways. A time of COMMITTING TO THE NEW. Old fruit was nourishing at one time but goes rotten. Let go of the things that do not fit in this next season. Continue maturing. This is not a time to spiritually back track, though it would certainly be the most comfortable option. Everything that has passed was all useful at a time. “You counted the buildings in Jerusalem and tore down houses to strengthen the wall. You built a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the Old Pool, but you did not look to the One who made it, or have regard for the One who planned it long ago.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭22:10-11‬ ‭NIV‬‬. You have seen what has passed, but remember I have helped you along through all of it with an omniscient hand. Even when it did not follow my perfect will, I have used it and made good out of it. But now it is time for bigger and better things. Stay for a while. Take your time. “Listen and hear my voice; pay attention and hear what I say. When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually? Does he keep on breaking up and working the soil? When he has leveled the surface, does he not sow caraway and scatter cumin? Does he not plant wheat in its place, barley in its plot, and spelt in its field? His God instructs him and teaches him the right way.” Isaiah‬ ‭28:23-26‬ ‭NIV‬‬. It's easy to get caught in a place where we are continually breaking up ground, but this season is a little different. This is a season of growing HUGE spiritual fruits, and to do that takes nurturing and time spent in this place. Don't be in a hurry to move on to the next places, but wait and see what is growing here in this place a while. He'll send all you need to grow crops. It may be hard work, but you were made for this. “This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it. You said, ‘No, we will flee on horses.’ Therefore you will flee! You said, ‘We will ride off on swift horses.’ Therefore your pursuers will be swift!” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30:15-16‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30:23‬ ‭NIV‬‬ You have "closed" on this new season. God has paved the way and paid the price, and you are being handed the key! “I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I will drive him like a peg into a firm place; he will become a seat of honor for the house of his father.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭22:22-23‬ ‭NIV‬‬
