New Years Eve

We are on the eve of a new year in the Hebrew calendar, year 5778. I've been noticing and have even written about the theme of building and construction. We recently began HAVING a lot of construction near our house and even on our street. I feel like much of what happens in the natural is mirroring the supernatural. "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." Romans 1:20. Construction is sometimes unexpected and almost never convenient. It's the same when our spiritual roads are under construction. When roads are being redone, first they are scored. The lines look like there is no rhyme or reason, curved cuts that seemingly ruin the road. Then the old road is destroyed and broken up. Looking like a heap of ruins, it's hard to believe an IMPROVEMENT is coming. Sure enough, the end product is not only beautiful but functional. You may be looking at emotional scars like scores on a road about to be redone. You may be looking at a heap of rubble not realizing it is being redone instead of destroyed. Give it time, as this new year will be a year of great construction in the spiritual as roads are built or made smooth rapidly. 5778 in Strong's concordance is Ophay, the short definition being Ephai meaning "an Israelite" or "bird-like". I picture God smoothing your spiritual paths to create a runway. You are preparing for take off, and the runway must be perfect. The process of construction may be confusing, frustrating, or inconvenient, but it will be meaningful when complete. This year will be bird-like as we prepare to TAKE OFF. Just like the Israelites, this time is going to be SET APART, chosen, for God and His purposes.
